Start your trip in Yellowstone National Park, travel through the hangouts of Buffalo Bill Cody and Butch Cassidy, then finish your trip at Platte River Campground in Glenrock Wyoming that once served as a point to cross the Platte River for immigrants on the Oregon Trail. Then, settles called immigrant crossing.
According to WyoHistory.org immagrents bound for Oregon, California and Utah in the mid-1800s faced high tolls and high risks when they crossed the North Platte River near present Casper, Wyo. River crossings were extremely dangerous; operators of commercial ferries and bridges charged steep prices for safety. Many Immigrants, unwilling to pay, cobbled together other, more homemade solutions—with varying success. Until bridges were built.
The Rivers bank at this time started just below the upper camping lot. It was a wide dangerous river to cross and this area was the safest place.

Take a short walk and hike the Historical Rock in the Glen where you go back to the 1800's and see some of the names and traces of the 350,000 immigrants who traveled Westward through this valley. YES, we are on the Oregon Trail.
We have the Wyoming Pioneer Memorial Museum, Glenrock's Paleontological Museum, the famous Historical Higgins Hotel and Paisley Shawl plus many many more historical sights.
Near Douglas find the beautiful Natural Bridge. Or Are you looking for more of a city scene?
Casper is less than 30 miles away. Spend the day playing Lazer Tag or Roller Skating, Go to the Movies or out on the town.
Walking distance to Glenrock a brand new Splash Pad to play. , amphitheater, basketball courts baseball diamonds or bring your bikes and bike around the Paths in the town of Glenrock.
